Haitian Voodoo Ceremonies

A candle, lit to summon different lwa, or spirits, sits in the sand as pilgrims cleanse themselves in the sea during a sunrise voodou ritual at Bord de Mer de Limonade, on the north coast of Haiti on July 25, 2008. After renewing their faith in the mud pit at Plaine du Nord on the days prior, pilgrims migrate to the nearby water, their faith renewed.
